After posting a teaser video on Instagram, Nas dropped his short film, titled Nasir - The Film, on November 15. Sixteen minutes in length, the short also serves as the visual companion for the album he released last June.
Over the course of the film, the seven tracks from the record plays in the background, like a soundtrack. Songs such as “Cops Shot the Kid” are synchronized with clips of police brutality, racism as well as other social issues faced by the minority today. Similarly, these themes are also frequently found throughout the album.
Directed by Rohan Blair-Mangat, Nasir stars, in addition to Nas himself, Slick Rick and Demarius Mack. Watch the film below.
