More power to the women, now that Beyoncé's hand picked a few young beauties to represent in her Ivy Park Sportswear line SS17 campaign. The campaign features: Black-ish actress and activist Yara Shahidi, model Selah Marley, singer & songwriter SZA, model Sophie Koella and songbirds Chloe X Halle.
Zoë Ghertner photographed each star in a park that holds meaning for them, and where they were asked to perform their favorite sports activities.
According to Billboard, “Ivy Park’s second campaign features fashion-forward active wear – cutout bodysuits, bold leggings and mesh-lined crop tops, all geared towards a sporty-yet-stylish look for everyday wear. Echoing the brand’s mission of female empowerment.”
"Being physically fit not only helps you achieve a healthy lifestyle, but for me, it connects spirit and body. It makes me more present, when I feel like I am connected to who I am, and I'm connected to the body that I am in. It makes me more present, more confident, more able to do whatever I want to do," Shahidi offered in one of the project's official interviews.
“Sports are usually only geared towards men, and [it is empowering] simply shining a light on the fact that yes, women play sports and yes, we’re also great at what we do. I love that it highlights that women are capable of anything and we can dominate anywhere we go,” Marley shared via Vogue on what Ivy Park means to her.
