German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans is set to open his first ever exhibition in the African continent at the Musée d’Art Contemporain et Multimédias in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Entitled Wolfgang Tillmans: Fragile, the exhibition will feature more than 200 works spanning 1986 to 2017, and include installations, video works, and publications in addition to photographs by the artist.

In Fragile, Tillmans, who is the first photographer to win the Turner Prize in 2000, captures human beings' fragility in his works. To him, fragility that determines us as individuals and that plays into our relations with each other is not a weakness; it is a great strength. Fragile highlights precious moments in life and the meaning of social and family ties, in particular in times of social and political instability.
