Both artists had family members who were political prisoners ( Liu Xia is the widow of 2010 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo, while Tsai Hai-Ru’s great grandfather, grandfather and father had all been political prisoners) and the exhibition will explore their world of desolation, uncertainty, fear and helplessness. Atemshaukel will feature poems and 26 black-and-white photographs by Liu Xia as well as two new works by Tsai Hai-Ru.

The exhibition will open from March 30 to May 26.
